Lake House - Craft Room
WARNING: This is the craft room of all craft rooms.
During an initial conversation with the client, she said that she liked light and bright with pops of pink. Let's be honest, all my brain heard was pops of pink, and then I blacked out a little. Say no more!
As a business owner with three kids, the client wanted a space where she could get some work done when she's not at the office; a 'no kid zone' retreat. While this space has more cabinetry than the kitchen (her husband would regularly joke, "if only there was room for more cabinetry in here"), it has ribbon dowels, wrapping paper storage, cardstock paper slots for every color, a sink, a crafting island with stools, a seating area, a desk, a television, and more storage than I could ever dream of in my own home.
Per usual, let's start at the very beginning... a very good place to start.
*Okay, maybe no more Sound of Music references. Bonus points to you if you caught it.
BEHOLD - THE MAGICAL CRAFT ROOM
When the client said she liked pops of pink, I instantly knew that I had to use this fuchsia countertop by Silestone on the island, and I designed the rest of the room around it. Though you can't quite tell in photos, the walls are actually a very softly patterned white wallpaper that give them just enough texture in person. The pale gray ceiling is the same gray as the west wall of cabinetry. Aside from the insanely gorgeous custom draperies, everything else was kept soft and airy. If this isn't the ultimate 'woman cave', I don't know what is.
Once we started pulling the room together, these citron velvet drapes felt a little heavy. I found the cotton floral fabric we ended up using for the custom draperies and I love how it pulled in shades of gold, soft green, and lavender.
---THE RESULTS ARE IN---
I'm not sure I could love the end result any more than I do. This room makes my heart so happy.
What lavender tufted ottoman is complete without Kate Spade coffee books?
Yes, that rug is as soft in person as it looks in the photo.
Woodways did a beautiful job building all of the custom cabinetry I designed.
This room is ready for any and every craft you can imagine...or maybe it's just a good place to hide from the kids and take a nap. Either way, I think it's perfect. Then again, I'm a little biased.
